History
In mid 1999, Bishop Melvin E. Blake, Jr. was given a vision by God to establish this ministry, known as In His Image Christian Ministries or IHICM. A ministry founded and built on the principles of seeing the lives of people change by the Word of God. Through much prayer and supplication, it was proposed that the ministry meet the spiritual, as well as, heartfelt needs of the people. Stepping out on faith, Bishop Blake, together with people chosen by the Spirit of God, began the implementation of the ministry.
Although several locations were identified, only one would be secured. The ministry resides at its present location, 7343 Old Alexander Ferry Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735. A small group of laborers worked diligently and relentlessly, ensuring that all things would be done decently and in order. Having all things in common, walls were painted, chairs, tables, and supplies were purchased, and carpeting was placed, all in preparation for the first worship services of the Ministry. Hearts were rejoicing as prayers were being answered, while we continued to make our petitions known before God.
On Sunday, July 18, 1999, at 11:00 a.m., the doors of IHICM were opened. There were at least 100 in attendance. The initial membership was approximately 45, and grew to 120. Worship services have been held every Sunday since July 18, 1999, and Wednesday Night Prayer & Worship Services were added in August 1999.
Bishop Blake saw the need for more space to accommodate the growing membership. As such, the walls were expanded, and IHICM now occupies properties known as 7341, 7343, 7345 and 7347 Old Alexander Ferry Road.
Since the doors of IHICM were opened, we have pioneered many efforts, and continue to position ourselves, in order to receive and carry out the work that God has chosen for this Ministry. Bishop Blake continuously labors to ensure that IHICM remains well rooted and grounded in the love and Word of God, while being guided by the Holy Spirit.
In order to fulfill its mandated purpose, which is to Win Souls for Christ, IHICM will continue to promote spiritual growth, excellence, commitment to God's word, and preach the acceptable year of the Lord; and serve as a living witness of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
